My Sister Just Got DIRECTV Plus HD DVR

September 27th, 2009

My sister and brother-in-law took their economic stimulus money and purchased a forty-two inch television that has high-definition reception on it. Now they are going to get DIRECTV Plus® HD DVR from Direct TV.  They say that the colors are more vivid, images are clearer and even the sound is better.

Some of the features on this DVR are: High definition and standard definition programming; record up to 200 hours of standard programs, up to 50 hours of high definition programming; 24/7 access to over 4,000 movies and TV shows; record two shows while watching one that is already recorded; series link feature, allowing you to record an entire season of shows, even if it changes day or time; one-touch recording; auto recording; manual record; bookmarks; pause and rewind live HD TV for up to ninety minutes; slow down; and instant replay. For more information, you can check it out on the Internet.

Exploring the DISH Network ViP722 HD DVR

August 27th, 2009

Currently, I am a cable subscriber; and they just raised their prices, again. I am looking into the possibility of getting a DISH Network ViP722™ HD DVR and DISH Network programming.  The acronym, HD DVR, is short for high-definition, digital video recorder. The ViP722 model is their newest and supports two televisions; one is high-definition and one standard-definition.

Some of the features include: 350 hours of standard-definition and up to 55 hours of HD programming; HD and SD output is simultaneous; expanded storage capacity; the ability to view and record HD over air digital3; two satellite tuners, so that you can select from single or duel mode; and it supports Dolby® 5.1 surround sound. Of course, I don’t really need all of the special features; but it sure would be nice!

Here’s great site to compare most of the latest DVR’s like DISH Network ViP722 HD DVR.

Are You Familiar with the DISH High-Definition DVRs?

August 27th, 2009

Right now I get my cable, Internet and telephone all from the same provider. The DISH Network ViP612™ HD DVR looks very tempting, and I am considering switching my television reception to DISH Network. I am going to compare the benefits and costs of both. I did some research on the Internet and discovered that the features of the ViP612 high-definition, digital video recorder that will record up to 200 hours of SD and up to 30 hours of HD programming.

The 612 supports one HDTV and has has an external hard drive2 in order for you to record and store tons of programs. Because it has two satellite tuners you can watch one program while you are recording another. You can also record two programs while watching one you already have recorded. Now that is worth the cost.

Here is a site that compares DISH HD DVR’s with DIRECT TV HD DVR’s.

LaLa&RuRu asked:

Could this be true? My apartment faces the wrong side of the world according to the installer guy that tried to install Dish. A friend of mine said they are soon to have satellite TV that doesn’t need a dish. I live in Canada not in the US–I’m sure that may make a difference. But I only want to watch American TV channels.
